Where My Journey Begins…..

So after reading my last couple posts I think I’ve given you plenty but of information on EDM and the festival scene. From the history all the way to the financial statistics. But what will be most original to my blog is my own experiences. This will be a platform for me to bring you into what I’ve experienced over the last 6 years but also maybe encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and attend one of the very festivals I have. Before attending my first festival I had attended quite a few of raves which are events held at local clubs usually hosted by one popular DJ supported by a few others but all in one night. Raves are pretty similar to festivals I think just on a smaller scale. In this post though, I want to take the time to share my most memorable festival experience. That was when I attended EDC Orlando in 2014, below is the lineup and dates attended.

As you can see it was a 2 day festival as appose to the standard 3 day festival most festivals are. But in the 2 days I was there I had an experience of a lifetime that I will forever remember. This festival had 3 stages, Kinetic field, which was the main stage where more of the mainstream DJ’s played and majority of the crowd was. Then there was Circuit Grounds, which was the bass stage, where you go to head bang and jump as high as you can on the biggest drops. And then there was the Neon Garden, which was a lot like a dome but where you went to dance the night away and listen to some techno and serious house music. Now what makes this festival so special though is all the other attractions that come along inside the festival. EDC stands for Electric Dance Carnival and in the name you can obviously see carnival. The carnival theme brings all your basic carnival attractions like a Ferris wheel, and zip lining and even little mini games to win prizes. All that extra stuff is what made it so cool and fun. You could literally watch your favorite DJ from the top of the Ferris wheel. They even had free water filling stations for the first time ever through out the festival because the Florida heat is no joke in the afternoon. Now unfortunately with all this stuff going on and all the stages to visit, there is never enough time to see all your favorite DJ’s so its always smart to create time schedule before you attend that way you can see a little bit of everything. Lucky enough I got to see my favorite DJ, Dillon Francis. It was such a cool experience seeing him live for the first time but what made it like no other is because he truly live mixes in front of thousands of people at all his performances. This proved to be true as well in the middle of his set because at one point he messed up a song drop and stopped all the music…. He then went on the mic and said “sorry guys, I messed up because that is what real DJ’s do!” then preceded to destroy his set, being my favorite of the entire weekend. And to top off my entire experience, I got to do it all with my closest group of friends from back home. When you get to do these festivals with people you truly enjoy, I think it escalates everything to a whole other level. Below I’ve created a slideshow of photos I personally took from the festival which I think portray the amazing time I had.
